1. It’s different from a holiday: When you go on holiday, you usually do so with family or friends. You might hit tourist hot spots, enjoy some local cuisine and get a brief glimpse into the local culture. But going abroad for a program during school is different! You’re usually going solo, for a long period of time, living more like a local and immersing yourself in local culture. You’ll explore beyond the hot spots and try to truly understand the country rather than simply enjoying the most visible elements of the culture.
